Community building helps everyday people learn, join projects, and collaborate successfully. It is not limited to writing code.
- Courses and tutorials: co-create courses, write examples, review content, record demonstrations, or support learners;
- Newcomer support: organize common questions, help newcomers find tasks, and improve onboarding materials;
- Activities: organize guided learning, talks, hackathons, and online or offline gatherings;
- Website and resources: improve the community website, homepage, library, forms, and public documentation;
- Outreach and partnerships: introduce real community projects, create accurate content, and connect suitable partners or resources;
- Material support: after confirming a real need, provide venues, equipment, prizes, software, cloud resources, or printed materials that an activity or project will actually use.
- Choose one specific piece of work from the areas above;
- Submit a community-building proposal with the goal, deliverable, expected timing, and support needed;
- Confirm scope, publication, and privacy boundaries with the community organizer before starting;
- When finished, add a page, document, image, activity record, or another verifiable result to the issue.
- Confirm a real need first; do not create work merely to leave a public record;
- AI-generated content must be reviewed, verified, and revised by a person;
- Do not publish group chats, contact details, photos, or other private information without permission;
- Outreach must accurately describe its relationship to the community or project and must not exaggerate results;
- Material donations require an agreed purpose, recipient, and use before acceptance; unneeded or unusable materials will not be accepted;
- Community-building records support public collaboration and acknowledgment; they do not use points or rankings.
