When I first installed GitHub Copilot CLI on Windows 11, it automatically installed PowerShell 7. I hadn’t had PowerShell 7 before, and I wasn’t a fan of it, but I had to install PowerShell 7.x anyway, so it was fine.
For some reason, Windows Update installed PowerShell 7.6.8 on my workstation. It’s located under “Program Files,” which is a different path from where PowerShell 7 had been installed previously. Although I can see PowerShell 7.6.8 in the system, Winget doesn’t recognize it as installed.
I have two versions of PowerShell 7.x - one installed via Winget and another installed through Windows Update.
This is not the way to be...
Affected version
GitHub Copilot CLI 1.0.103
Steps to reproduce the behavior
Install GitHub Copilot in a system PowerShell 7.6.8 is already installed.
Expected behavior
Respect existing installation of PowerShell 7.6.8, and do not install PowerShell 7.6.7
