copilot --cloud fails immediately while provisioning: internal server error #5289

Open

Description

@FBakkensen

Describe the bug

Starting a remote cloud session with copilot --cloud fails immediately during cloud environment provisioning with Error: internal server error. The agent host is not connected.

Affected version

copilot --version currently reports GitHub Copilot CLI 1.0.105 on the reporting machine; the version at the time of the screenshot has not been independently confirmed.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. Run copilot --cloud.
  2. Start a remote session in the cloud.
  3. Observe the provisioning failure shown in the screenshot:
Starting a remote session in the cloud
Elapsed: 0s

X Provisioning cloud environment
O Connecting to agent host

Error: internal server error

Expected behavior

The cloud environment provisions successfully and the CLI connects to the agent host. If provisioning fails, the CLI should surface enough diagnostic information to identify or report the failure.
