fix: serve fonts as immutable build assets - #3375
Noticed when I was comparing npmx.dev to my other Next.js sites that the fonts were flickering, which doesn't happen on my Next.js sites, so Daniel Roe suggested I fix it.
The website previously loaded Geist from separate TTF files in public/fonts. Files in public keep their original names, so these URLs were not content hashed and did not receive the immutable caching used for Nuxt build assets. The browser could therefore revalidate the fonts and briefly render fallback text, producing the visible flicker.
Nuxt Fonts already provides the desired browser behavior when fonts live outside public: it emits content-hashed build assets, adds the appropriate preload and fallback metrics, and serves those assets with long-lived immutable caching.
npmx.dev also prerenders social images with nuxt-og-image. That happens at a different stage of the build, before the browser's hashed font assets are available. The current nuxt-og-image integration tried to load those not-yet-emitted WOFF2 URLs during prerendering, received 404 responses, and rendered the images with a fallback font. That changed the OG-image snapshot even though the website fonts themselves were correct.
The browser and OG-image renderer therefore need separate font sources: hashed WOFF2 build assets for the website, and the existing static TTF files for build-time OG-image rendering.
📚 Description
add the variable Geist and Geist Mono WOFF2 files under assets/fonts
configure the local Nuxt Fonts provider to discover those files and rely on its default variable-weight handling
keep the normal Geist and Geist Mono families on Nuxt Fonts so browser CSS references hashed WOFF2 build assets
retain the existing TTF files in public/fonts for OG-image prerendering
define OG-only Geist OG and Geist Mono OG aliases that point directly to those TTF files
update the OG templates to use the aliases, preventing the renderer from requesting browser build assets before they exist
keep the OG aliases out of Nuxt Fonts processing so they are not rewritten back to hashed URLs
include the Geist font license alongside the new WOFF2 assets
✅ Verification
VALIDATE_HTML=true pnpm exec vp run build:test
pnpm exec playwright test test/e2e/og-image.spec.ts --grep "blog post" (1 passed)
pnpm exec vp run test:browser:prebuilt (270 passed, 1 skipped)
pnpm exec vp test --project nuxt test/nuxt/components/OgImagePackage.spec.ts test/nuxt/components/OgImageUserProfile.spec.ts (15 passed)
formatting and lint passed for all changed source files
verified that the production output contains hashed WOFF2 browser assets and static TTF-backed OG aliases
verified that the clean build no longer logs Failed to load font for the prerendered OG images
verified Cache-Control: public, max-age=31536000, immutable on the generated browser font response

Summary
Configure and define local OG fonts nuxt.config.ts, app/assets/main.css, assets/fonts/LICENSE.txt, uno.theme.ts
Nuxt searches assets/fonts and registers the Geist OG font families. The stylesheet defines the OG font faces at the specified weights. The theme adds ogmono and ogsans font families. The licence file contains font attribution and the SIL Open Font Licence 1.1 text.
Apply OG font families app/components/OgImage/*.takumi.vue, app/components/OgLayout.vue
OG image components replace font-mono with font-ogmono for the listed text. The comparison component also changes package-name weight from semibold to bold. OgLayout replaces font-sans with font-ogsans.

Update the Storybook font URLs that point to removed TTF files.
.storybook/preview-head.html still loads seven /fonts/*.ttf files. This PR deletes those files from public/fonts/. Storybook serves public/ at /, so these font requests now return 404 and Storybook falls back to system fonts. Point the @font-face rules to a served font, or add a static route for assets/fonts/.
