Description

A customer's upload script re-uploads images that already exist; dedup leaves them in their old batch, and there is no API-key way to regroup them into the batch they belong in (REQ-238). This adds Project.move_images_to_batch(...) and roboflow annotation batch move -p <project> (--batch-name N | --batch-id ID) (--tag T | --image-id ID ...), which move up to 1000 images (the UI's cap) per call, by ID or by tag, into a batch named (reused or created) or identified. Serves O8 (one API shape on every surface).

Draft until the API ships: it calls POST /{workspace}/{project}/annotation-batches/move from roboflow/roboflow#18290, matching its final contract. Docs: roboflow/docs#406.

Under review: the command lives under annotation batch, not batch (that group is Batch Processing jobs).

Type of change

  • New feature (non-breaking)

How has this change been tested?

  • CI green (15/15). New automated tests (SDK validation and 1000 cap, adapter HTTP contract, CLI by tag/IDs, --json, tag-over-cap error, exit codes 1/2/3); all 10 fail on main. Full suite: 1261 OK.
  • Smoke: CLI against a local stub of the #18290 contract (API_URL=http://127.0.0.1:8765), evidence gist.
  • Not run: staging, the API is not deployed.

Any specific deployment considerations

None; ships with the next PyPI release, after #18290 is deployed.

Moves existing images, by IDs or tag, into an annotation batch named or
identified, via POST /{ws}/{proj}/batches/move.

Matches the final SLM-156 contract: path, integer skipped, and the per-call
cap for image IDs and tags, surfaced with a hint in the CLI.
