Part of the TF 3.0 release documentation effort — refs tensorflow/tensorflow#111734.

Changes (site/en/install/pip.md)

  • Software requirements: Python 3.9-3.12 -> 3.10-3.13 (Python 3.9 support was removed in TF 2.21, per tensorflow/tensorflow RELEASE.md; the wheel table in this guide lists cp310-cp313 builds)
  • Windows Native quick install: replaced the obsolete conda install cudatoolkit=11.2 + pip install "tensorflow<2.11" + GPU-verification block with current CPU-only instructions and the CPU verification command (native Windows has had no GPU support since TF 2.11)
  • Windows Native step-by-step: removed the Miniconda / conda create python=3.9 / cuDNN sections; replaced with the standard venv flow, with a note pointing GPU users to the WSL2 section; renumbered steps (1 System requirements, 2 VC++ Redistributable, 3 venv, 4 Install, 5 Verify)
  • System requirements: "Windows 7 or higher" -> Windows 10 or higher (Python 3.11+ requires Windows 10+)
  • Removed the misleading GPU verification commands from the native-Windows section (CPU-only there by design)
  • Fixed broken anchor #windows-[wsl2] -> #windows-wsl2
  • macOS: "Requires Python 3.9-3.11" -> 3.10-3.13

Verification

  • Python 3.9 removal confirmed in tensorflow/tensorflow RELEASE.md: "Support for Python 3.9 has been removed starting with TF 2.21."
  • Tested on a CPU-only native Windows machine: pip install tensorflow-cpu installs and python -c "import tensorflow as tf; print(tf.reduce_sum(tf.random.normal([1000, 1000])))" runs successfully.
