Problem

Python applications cannot select Python 3.15 in the service catalog.

Cause

The service only declares Python 3.10–3.14 images.

Solution

Offer Python 3.15 as an opt-in version with matching production and development images that follow the Python 3.15 line. Keep Python 3.14 as the default and preserve all existing version choices.

Implementation

  • Add Python 3.15 with an October 2031 end-of-life date.
  • Select the published 3.15-r6 and 3.15-dev-r6 image pair, using the same version family as the service option.
  • Update the documented version list.

Validation

  • Verified both revision tags are published for amd64 and arm64 and match the released image digests.
  • Local schema and resolved inheritance checks passed for Python, Django, Flask, and FastAPI, including workspace settings and the unchanged 3.14 default.
  • Checked the current service updater selects the 3.15 line and advances to a simulated next revision only when its matching development tag is available.
  • Python, Flask, and FastAPI boilerplate tests passed on Python 3.15.1.

Rollout

The images are published in r6. Publish the Python service as 1.2.0 before publishing the inherited service updates. Connected-server manifest validation was not run; validation used the local import logic.

Inherited service changes: Django, Flask, and FastAPI.

Offer Python 3.15 with paired production and workspace images from the first Python 3.15.1 image revision. Keep Python 3.14 as the default and preserve the existing runtime options.
Select the published 3.15-r6 and 3.15-dev-r6 image pair for the 3.15 runtime option. Keep the service manifest aligned with the runtime family tracked by automated image updates instead of selecting exact Python 3.15.1 aliases.

Preserve the currently published service updates while retaining the new Python 3.15 runtime option and the inherited Python 1.2.0 base selection.
