test(stack-encrypt): add stored-read and context conformance - #1462
Stored record validation needs to distinguish errors visible before key retrieval from type mismatches concealed inside authenticated ciphertext. This adds the experimental record-reads-v1 profile shared by native Rust and Go WASI.
Cases cover malformed rows/output maps, missing ciphertext, plaintext under c, late batch failures, authenticated type mismatches, null read-policy changes and context-field preflight. Extra stored fields/outputs and missing equality terms remain readable.
Native tests assert stages, full diagnostic payloads and data-key retrieval counts, collecting failures per case. Go exercises uninitialised guest preflight and configured ciphers, plus Cipher.Open for representable cases. The tree hook preserves cipher validation, context and extension, and shares production transport, typed-row decoding, error wrapping and buffer cleanup.
Both runners reject missing required corpus fields and contradictory expectations. Explicit declaration ordering and a zone context-field case prevent lexical ordering from hiding regressions; the shared Go decoder validates field order before map conversion.
The contract records all static-context/call-context boundaries: engine preflight refusal, native pending-opener diagnostics, and Go's earlier ErrEncoding host refusal. No English error wording is contractual. Existing tests remain; repeated-key/raw-leaf framing, broader context composition, EQL/JSON profiles and Python/TypeScript consumers remain follow-ups.
Stack: #1404 → #1460 → #1461 → this PR. Review against feat/stack-encrypt-runtime-conformance; merge parents first and retarget as they land.
Validation: all four profiles and fresh scalar Go-to-Rust exchange pass, including read/declaration tests with serde_json preserve_order. The full Go encrypt/internal-record suites pass with rebuilt plain and EQL guests. Rust clippy/formatting, Go lint and CI wiring checks pass. Native key-call counts are observed; Go logical provider-call counts are not claimed. No live credentials or database required.

Bug Fixes
Go now rejects decrypted records with unexpected field counts or ordering, improving validation of read results.
Tests
Added shared coverage for malformed stored records, authenticated types, context validation, and null reads, with Rust and Go conformance tests.
Included both read test suites in the conformance run.
Documentation
Documented read outcomes, diagnostics, and key-retrieval behavior across Rust and Go, and updated the run instructions to build the WebAssembly guest.

Walkthrough
Adds the record-reads-v1 profile with shared cases for stored-record shape validation, authenticated read-type behavior, null handling, and context preflight. Rust and Go tests execute the corpus, and the conformance script runs both test suites.

Review attestation: automated /code-review medium of head 89ab5aa, cross-checked against the existing PR feedback.
Critical / blocking: none found.
New findings: none. Every defect this review found in the Go and Rust read-conformance runners and in OpenTreeForTest is already raised in the 10 open threads:
OpenTreeForTest skips cph.plan.
Go and Rust validate the corpus differently.
Go does not check that stage agrees with check_error and retrievals.
Row ordering is compared differently in the two runners.
mutateRead can panic on unchecked type assertions.
The Rust runner is a single test loop.
The deterministic guest path is hard-coded.
The case counts in the docs are not asserted.
openedRows duplicates the conversion in Client.open.
The static-context diagnostic Go users actually see is not pinned by any case.
Nothing in this review adds to those threads. I did not re-verify them against the head commit.
I would resolve those threads before merge. The CI wiring change in scripts/stack-conformance.sh and its wiring test look correct.
No changeset is needed, as the PR says: it changes tests, docs and tooling only.

Reject drop_tenant cases that declare no context field.
drop_tenant runs as a silent no-op when context_field is false. Both runners then accept the case, even when its expectations claim the mutation was tested. The corpus schema permits that combination, so a future case could pass without exercising its mutation. No current corpus case has this combination.
In Go, the drop_tenant branch deletes a key that the tree never contains. Add a check in validateReadCase:
Suggested fix
if err := record.CheckSegment(c.ContextFieldName); err != nil {
return err
}
}
+ if c.Mutation.Kind == "drop_tenant" && !c.ContextField {+ return errors.New("drop_tenant requires a context field")+ }
for _, d := range []readDeclaration{c.Write, c.Read} {
The Rust runner needs the same guard at the start of check_case:
async fn check_case(case: Case) {
+ assert!(case.context_field || case.mutation.kind != "drop_tenant");
let context_name = if case.context_field_name.is_empty() {

Add a Cipher.Open check for a stored row with an extra field.
read-extra-field sets adapter: false, so the suite never calls Cipher.Open on it. A regression that rejects extra stored fields in Cipher.Open would leave the read suite green. Add a Go test that opens a record.Sealed with an extra key and checks the returned value.

Reject an explicit null for expected_context in both runners.
Option<String> maps both an omitted key and "expected_context": null to None. A case with an explicit null then runs as an unrestricted read and skips the label check. Check for a present null in the raw JSON, before deserializing, and fail the case. The read contract requires a nonempty label whenever expected_context is supplied.
